If you want to know how to start a prop firm as a trading creator, the short answer is this: you need capital, technology, a risk team, trader support, a brand and an audience. You can assemble all six yourself, or bring the audience and brand and let a partner supply the rest.
This guide walks through each part from the creator's side, what doing it alone really involves, and how a partnered launch works in about two weeks.
What a prop firm is, from the creator's side
A prop firm sells evaluations. A trader pays a fee, trades a simulated account under your rules, and if they hit the target without breaking the drawdown limits, they get a funded account and a share of what they make.
From the trader's side, it is a test. From your side, it is a business with income from evaluation sales and costs from funded trader payouts. The gap between the two, after running costs, is the firm's profit.
For a creator, the appeal is simple. Your audience already asks which firm to trade with. Today you send them somewhere else for a referral fee. With your own firm, they trade under your name and you share in the profit.
The six parts every prop firm needs
Every firm, large or small, runs on the same six parts. The question is who supplies each one.
Part | What it covers | Who usually supplies it |
|---|---|---|
Capital | Money to pay funded traders | The owner, or a partner |
Tech | Platforms, evaluation, checkout, dashboards | Bought, built or included |
Risk | Rule design, monitoring, payout review | An in-house team or a partner |
Support | Answering traders every day | A help desk |
Brand | Name, logo, website, tone | The creator |
Audience | People who will buy evaluations | The creator |
Capital
This is the part people underestimate. Every funded trader who hits a payout gets paid, and that money has to come from somewhere. If you build alone, it comes from you, and a run of strong traders can wipe out a good month.
Tech
You need trading platforms, an evaluation engine, a checkout, a trader dashboard and an admin view so you can see sales and payouts. Each piece has to talk to the others, and each one needs looking after.
Risk
A risk team designs rules that are fair to traders and sustainable for the firm, then watches accounts for rule breaks and reviews payouts before they go out. This is a specialist job.
Support
Traders have questions about rules, platforms, resets and payouts, often at odd hours. Slow answers cost you trust quickly.
Brand and audience
These two are yours. Nobody can supply a community that already watches your streams, reads your posts or follows your signals. That is the hardest part to build, and it is the part you already have.
Doing it alone vs launching with a partner
You can build every part yourself. That means licensing platforms, buying or building software, hiring risk people, setting up support and keeping a large cash reserve for payouts. It gives you full control and all of the profit, along with all of the risk.
The other route is a white label partner. You bring the brand and the audience, and the partner supplies capital, tech, risk and support. You keep a share of profit instead of all of it, and you never fund a payout yourself.
Neither route is wrong. If you have a technical team, deep cash reserves and months to spare, building may suit you. If your strength is your audience, a partner usually makes more sense. We set out the full trade-off in build vs white label, and the line-by-line spend in what it costs to start a prop firm.
Be honest with yourself here. If you want to own every system and carry every risk, a partner will feel restrictive. That is fine, and it is worth knowing before you start.
How a two-week launch works
With Lvlup One, a firm goes from kick-off to live in about two weeks. The steps are the same for every creator.
- Kick-off call. We talk through your audience, your market and the kind of firm you want.
- Risk team review. You propose your rules: account sizes, drawdown, profit targets and pricing. Our risk team reviews them and signs them off.
- We build. Your evaluation, admin portal and website go up on your brand.
- Walkthrough. We show you the admin portal, the website builder and how sales, clicks and payouts appear.
- Live. You open the doors and start talking about your firm.
Your job during those two weeks is mostly decisions: the rules, the name and how you will tell your audience. The full sequence is on how it works.
Two early decisions: your market and your brand
Choosing a market
Pick the market your audience already trades. A futures streamer should launch a futures firm. A forex educator should launch a forex firm. Asking your audience to learn a new market and a new firm at the same time adds friction you do not need.
Market | Platforms | Status |
|---|---|---|
Futures (CME, e.g. ES, NQ) | Tickblaze, DXtrade, Rithmic | Live now |
Forex and CFDs | DXtrade, Match-Trader, cTrader | Available |
Crypto | DXtrade, Match-Trader, cTrader | Available |
Stocks | MT5, DXtrade | Available |
Perpetuals | To be confirmed | Coming soon, waitlist only |
Each market has its own page with the details: futures, forex and CFDs, crypto and stocks. Stocks firms can offer single-session and swing equities challenges as well as stock CFDs.
If your community trades more than one market, start with the one most of them use. You can talk to us about adding more later.
Your own brand or a co-brand
This choice shapes how traders see your firm on day one.
Lvlup Crown carries only your brand. Your logo is on the website, the checkout and the trader dashboard. It suits creators whose name already sells: streamers with a loyal chat, educators with paying students, signal groups with an active community.
Lvlup X is co-branded as "Lvlup × Your Brand". Your name sits next to Lvlup's, so traders see a name they may already recognise. New firms spend their early months proving they pay, and a known name beside yours shortens that.
Both plans get the same capital, risk team, admin portal and trader support. The question is whether trust in your name alone is enough on launch day. Compare them side by side on the plans page.
How the creator earns
You earn a share of the firm's profit. On Lvlup One, that share starts at 40%. Creators can be invited to 50%, then 60%+ over time. You also earn on live accounts when traders move up.
You never pay a trader payout. Lvlup capital pays every one, so a strong month for your traders is never a bill for you. Your payouts arrive every 30 days, in crypto or by bank transfer, with no minimum.
What you earn depends on your audience, your pricing and how your traders perform, so nobody can promise you a number. You can model a few scenarios with the revenue calculator to see how audience size and sales change the picture.
The partnership runs for two years, and you can pause any time without penalty.
